Have you ever tasted your sweat? Strange as it may sound sweating is healthy not only because of thermoregulation. Sweat has a strong salty taste. Individuals who engage in activities are likely to sweat. In fact, sweating can be used to confirm that one has attained a healthy level of activity during exercise.

Sweat or perspiration, is largely water with some amount of biochemicals, such as:

ammonia

urea

salts

sugars

You sweat when you exercise, have a high fever, or are nervous.

Sweating is your body’s cooling mechanism. When your internal temperature is high, your sweat glands release water to the surface of your skin. As the sweat evaporates, it cools your skin and your blood concomitantly.

When people sweat, they stay healthy. It is in the mind of some people that sweating makes them dirty. The question is, would you rather be ill than work out and sweat? How about dancing? If you do not have time to work out you can try dancing. Studies have shown that some cultural practices including dancing can promote health. Accordingly, individuals who are involved in religious and cultural dances are seen to enjoy improved health. In fact, in many instances, some people have reported recovery from certain conditions after engaging in religious rituals with dance. Studies have shown that individuals belonging to certain religious groups and engaging in certain cultural practices are less likely to experience heart disease.

Let us dissect this issue more diametrically. Dancing can be and is an economic activity in some jurisdictions. Like other sporting activities dancing competitions can bring together youth. During the coming together of the youth, there are many things happening including bonding and cohesion as well as the youth economics. Dancing can therefore be employed to promote healthy living and create employment opportunities.

Children can learn to sweat and enjoy being healthy in the future, in many African countries the population segments below 15 years of age is currently more than 35% and is increasing. This demographic trend shows that in 2040 about 70 % of the African population will be below 35 years. This population structure has huge potential to drive economic growth. This is mainly because not many diseases that are old-age-related affect such a population. The major problem is unemployment which may create mental health problems as well as nutritional deficiencies.

Can dancing be combined with football and other sports? Combining several sports increases their beneficial synergism. This has even been observed during mainstream sporting activities such as football when winners and other supporters dance. Those dances are not in vain. Indeed, encouraging individuals to support their teams is healthy as both parties engage in healthy body movement activity and dance. importantly, dancing flows with the music. Therefore, creators of music ought to produce the rhythm and symphony that infuses seamlessly with dance to encourage healthy living. Many examples of well-choreographed dances with matching music have been reported across the world. Experts must think about the dynamics of dance and music with regard to health.

Does sweating improve appetite and consequently health? Studies have reported that exercise promotes digestion and emptying of the bowels. As such among the known benefits of exercise and sweating is improved performance of the digestive system. Encouraging children to be active as a way of promoting their appetite has been demonstrated to be effective and healthy. Children with depressed appetite may enjoy improved health from exercise rather than medicating with artificial multivitamins.

Let us look at what happens during sweating. The homeostatic events that occur during sweating include; increased heart rate, and breathing. Breathing occurring during exercise, promotes exhalation which purges the body of toxic substances. Studies have characterized several substances that are eliminated during sweating, including persistent organic pollutants, some heavy metals and metabolic wastes. Given that some of the substances are carcinogenic, the benefit of cancer risk reduction stands out significantly. Can dancing slow the aging process? Studies have demonstrated that people who love dancing appear more youthful and healthy. We may say this with respect to musicians and band members. However, there are two perspectives that enable us to draw a holistic picture of the matter. On one side, there are many activities that accompany dancing and some are harmful to human health. On the other hand, the benefit of dancing could be responsible for the health that some musicians troupe members and dancers enjoy.
